Digital space is becoming the root benefit of people’s success these days. Every brand and business is working really hard to make their online presence strong. If you are the one who is about to step into the digital world, then you would love to read my basic but crucial tips on digital marketing. Make sure you read all the points as it will help you make your brand’s base strong.

Build a Website

To get most out of digital marketing, the first thing you need is a website. These days websites are getting replaced by apps to represent a brand, but still, a website is a must have a thing for every business or brand.

To register a domain, you can consider a .com domain with your brand name. If .com is not available for your brand name, you can give a try to other domain extensions like .in, .org, .net, etc.

Choosing a domain name needs too much of homework. If you want to get some SEO boost, then you can have a domain with your target keywords. For instance, if you are providing a car repairing service, then you can consider something like alexcarrepairings.com or alexautorepair.com.

Even if you are thinking about registering a domain that doesn’t have any keywords then feel free to go with it because at the end only content matters that you provide on your site.

Customize Your Website

Investing in a customized website will really help you to grab your potential customer’s attention.

There are many benefits of having a custom website, but I won’t recommend you to go for it until you understand your competitors or target audience.

You can get started with free or paid templates, and there is nothing wrong in it. Once you start getting traffic, you can revamp your site by hiring a developer.

Invest in Good Hosting Service

Most of the experts recommend investing in VPS servers to host your website, but I don’t think it is needed.

Don’t take me wrong. I am saying this because for a few months your site will get low traffic until and unless you have other resources to drive traffic to your site.

VPS servers are costly, and it would be foolish to invest in them when you are not getting much traffic.

Yes, there is one benefit that is fast page loading speed, but I think it can be compromised at the beginning stage.

If you have a low budget, then don’t hesitate to pick shared hosting. Most of the hosting services give you the freedom to upgrade your hosting plan by paying the difference amount.

Search Engine Marketing

Today having a website is not enough, especially when you want to reach maximum customers, not just the ones who already know your brand.

To increase your online presence, you need to leverage one of the most important aspects of digital marketing right from the beginning. I am talking about Search Engine Marketing or SEM. Without SEM, your brand may lose its value amongst millions of other websites.

Invest Your Time & Money on SEO

SEO or Search Engine Optimization helps you to get traffic from search engines like Google, Bing, Yandex, etc. organically.

SEO is a continuous process — brands who take it lightly after reaching at the top are inviting their competitors to overtake them.

There are many misconceptions about SEO like SEO is dead; it is not working anymore; fresh websites can’t rank on high competitive keywords and many more.

You must know that Google and other search engines give you equal chance to rule first page, the first position in SERP. All you need to show is your worthiness. If your website has good SEO, great content, backlinks, and higher trust level, then you can easily surpass any big brand without having much content on your site.

Before you get excited, you must know that it sounds very easy but it isn’t. It takes lot of patience and strategic plan to outshine the big brands with years of expertise.

Depending on your niche, your site can take three months or more to rank on particular keywords. The only key that will help you to get most of SEO is delivering high-quality content, no matter whether it is on your blog or backlinks that you make for your website.

Invest in PPC

PPC stands for Pay Per Click. You can leverage PPC platforms like Google ads to reach your customers instantly.

Google lets you place advertisements on SERP (Search Engine Result Pages). For that, Google provides a dedicated tool called Adwords. Using the Adwords, you can place your bid on particular keywords and show your website link on top of organic results.

PPC is one of the best ways to grab the attention of your target users for your brand, products, or services.

As the name suggests you need to pay for every click you get on your ad. You will be charged instantly as soon as someone clicks on your ad. It is up to your target page, whether it is able to convey the right message to your potential customer or not. You can say it is a disadvantage, but this is how it works.

Because of this nature, it is highly advisable to work on your landing page in terms of graphics, content, etc. Apart from that, it is recommended to hire a PPC expert to run your ads; after all, it involves your money that is being spent just with one click.

Social Media Marketing

Social Media Marketing is one of the fastest methods to promote your brand or services. If it is done effectively, then it can outshine the power of SEM. Many big brands are leveraging the power of social media without spending a single penny on SEO.

Choose the Social Platform Wisely

There are multiple social media platforms available today. Every social media space has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Having a presence on all social media platform is good, but finding the platform that actually works for you will skyrocket your campaign instantly.

I recommend you to focus on 2-3 social media platforms not more than that. Plan your content and its distribution wisely for all the platforms.

Don’t Over Promote Your Brand or Business Every Time

Social media platforms are not a place where you should keep posting your site’s link. You need to understand it should be used as a place where you can establish a better relationship with your customers or users.

If you keep posting your service or blog’s links frequently, then your user might get bored with your content. So try to focus on posting some engaging content.

There are exceptions to everything. The facts stated above don’t apply to everyone. You can take the example of any entertainment blog that keeps posting links, and you click on them every single time you come across their blogs.

In short, you need to understand the user behaviour of your audience and take the next step accordingly.

SEO vs. SEM

It is a harsh truth that few brands invest their time and money on SEM and SMM both. For most of the people or brands, SEM is enough or vice-versa.

In some cases, social media marketing is very powerful in comparison to search engine marketing. If you have good social media presence in terms of page likes, followers, etc. then you are able to reach thousands to millions of users just with one post or announcement.

I we talk about the SEM, here you need to put some extra effort on every single piece of content that you generate.

Having a good balance between both digital marketing aspects will always help you to augment your business and make your online presence strong.

Now, it is not like you should start investing your time and money on both. Before taking any step, I recommend you to check your competitors. Know from where they are getting their visitors or customers.

CONCLUSION

Depending on your niche, you need to decide where you should focus more, SEM, or SEO.

It is important because you can find many brands that have millions of followers and likes on their page, but their post has few likes and comments. Similarly, some brands are ranking in the first position but still not getting any conversion.

I recommend you to spend some time and know which medium is majorly used by your potential user or customer. For instance, if you are working on an entertainment niche, then you should more focus on social media, but if you are providing any technical help, then you should more focus on SEO.

Email Marketing and Content Marketing are the next crucial steps for your success. They play a vital role in leveraging digital marketing platforms for growth of business.
